The chip's quick decision-making time has drawn the attention of the Defense Department.

Though AI turning on humans is common in pop culture storytelling, some scientists and engineers have also warned about it. Most believe AI technology is far away from the level of intelligence that would be needed to turn against humans. Most dangers are more mundane, like the systems failing in self-driving cars.

AI could lead to a decrease in jobs for humans. Companies, like Amazon, use robots to move products through their warehouses. New technologies often displace workers from old positions but also create new employment opportunities.
