Photography historian Makeda Best advocates for teaching with photographs. She guides a group of teachers through how to create a lesson and promote classroom discussion using photographs. Students benefit from making observations and then learning the history and context of the photograph.
Photography curator Julia Dolan must select photographs to engage a wide audience at the Portland Art Museum. The museum collection contains more than 7,000 photographs, which Dolan cares for and puts in themed exhibits. Educator Julie Keef leads a group of students through the exhibit.
