Antonio Skármetta is the grandson of a family of immigrants from Dalmatia. He is one of the greatest literary figures of his country and internationally famous for his novel Ardiente Paciencia - El cartero de Neruda (The Postman - 1985) which was adapted to film in 1995. In 1975, the young Skármetta published his first novel: Soñé que la nieve ardía (I Dreamed that the Snow was Burning).
